SIMPLE YELLOW BROWN RICE


SIMPLE YELLOW BROWN RICE

Gluten-free

Rice is a staple grain in my home. My half Asian family loves this yellow rice served with lentils or chickpeas.

 

2 cups jasmine brown rice 

1 clove garlic minced

½ cup mixed frozen vegetables

½ tsp herbamare

1 tsp turmeric more if you like very yellow rice

½ sea salt to taste

1/8 tsp cumin


Sauté garlic with 1 tablespoon of water. Add mixed vegetables, herbamare, turmeric, seas salt and cumin. Sauté for 2 minutes more. Then, add brown rice. Add enough water to cover rice at least 1 inch above the rice. Cover bring it to boil. Then, lower the heat to medium low for 20 minutes. Check after 15 minutes to see if there is enough water. After 20 minutes lower to low heat and let it there for 10 minutes more making sure that rice is getting fluffy and is not burning. You can always add 1 tablespoon or more if you feel that needs more water. Enjoy
