According to New Age philosophy, our world is moving from a period of formal religion (the Age of Pisces) to the Age of Enlightenment (or the Age of Aquarius). This change from one period to another occurs under the guidance of enlightened ones who have accumulated great wisdom.

These “Ascended Masters” rule over Earth’s affairs and periodically intervene. One New Age website says that for a Master to be ascended, “he has risen to a high level in the spiritual hierarchy, and is qualified to speak on high consciousness subjects.”ⁱ

The Ascended Masters, supposedly speaking through earthly channels, claim to use a different approach for influencing humanity in each millennium. It is taught that nine world Masters influenced the transitions between Ages, and that numerous spirit entities have assisted in bringing humankind to the Age of Enlightenment. Occultist David Anrias tells us that the nine so-called “Great Ones” who have inspired the cycles of humankind are supposedly so advanced in their thinking and approach that their teachings fall like music on the ears of humankind:

The combined notes of these nine Great Ones create a chord of harmonious sound in heaven, yet within the aura of the earth for its helping. He who has learnt to hear this exquisite music has done so by first listening to the note of his own Master, on the inner planes and during meditation. Aspire towards Him Whom you feel to be your own Master if you would hear on earth, albeit faintly at first, that note which shall ultimately harmonize your heart with His.ⁱⁱ

Maitreya

New Age followers are awaiting the Maitreya, or the Christ, who will assist humankind in its rebirth. According to this doctrine, Maitreya is appearing as Christ to the Christians, as Krishna to the Hindus, as the Imam Madhi to the Muslims, and as the Bodhisattva to the Orient.

Called World Teacher, He will allegedly preside over the destiny of the great religions. This is not Jesus Christ, but rather a false Christ. The Maitreya Educational Foundation says this on its website:

The Christ Soul came through Jesus 2000 years ago; he was a medium and healer. He transfigured just as many mediums do today, and he brought with him the Photon Belt energy then. Today it is being done again to help humankind raise their vibration.ⁱⁱⁱ

Benjamin Creme, a British artist and esoteric, is a channel and key publicist for Maitreya. His magazines of channeled messages from Maitreya have been used as information documents for the United Nations. Creme has written many books—supposed channeled works from Maitreya—discussing Maitreya's appearance on Earth. Maitreya makes these claims in Creme's book The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom:

Many of you will see me soon. Share with your brothers this joyous expectation and tell them that Maitreya, their Friend, their Brother, their Teacher of old, has come... 

The need for war is past...the instinct of man is to live and to love...hatred is begotten of separation...the Law of God lives in man and is fundamental to his nature. All of this I shall show you. Work with Me and prove this to be true. I am the conveyor of God's Love. I am the Administrator of God's Will. The Light of God dwells in Me and that Light do I turn on you. Grow therein My friends, and shine with the Glory of God. My Plan is to reveal Myself in such a way that few, indeed, will know now who I am.^iv

Maitreya's agent or channel, Benjamin Creme, a British artist and long-time student of esoteric philosophy. He has become the principal source of information about the emergence of the Maitreya, the World Teacher. In 1982, he took out full page advertisements in major papers worldwide declaring that "The Christ is Here Now." Recently, he spoke in Britain declaring that the Maitreya has already appeared on national television and would soon make Himself known to the world.

Uniting the nations in rejection of God's truth has always been Satan's strategy. He attempted it at Babel, and God separated the nations. He will attempt the same at the end of time—uniting the Earth under the false law of Satan, spread by the Antichrist.

When asked about the role of the Pope, the Maitreya said this:

The Master Jesus (Maitreya) will take over the throne of St. Peter in Rome, and the true apostolic succession will begin. This event is now imminent, following the declaration of the Christ. It could well be that the present pope will be the last.^v

In 1979 the following addendum was made to this quote:

The decease of Pope Paul VI, and the sudden death of Pope John Paul after one month as Pontiff, makes it more than likely that the present Pope, John Paul II, will be the last.^vi

As we know, John Paul II was not the last Pope. And this is not the only unfulfilled prophecy. Creme made claims in both 1982 and 1997 that Maitreya would be returning and would appear on all the televisions of the world to share his message, neither of which came to fruition.
