TASTY HEALTHY TOMATO SAUCE WITH A SECRET INGREDIENT

Gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, sugar-free



Spaghetti sauce is a very and easy food to make. But if you are like me you would like to add something extra that will make the sauce healthier and satisfying. Consider using whole wheat noodles or kamut noodles if you are gluten–free and it will make a nice comfort food for those raining days  - or any day!


½ tablespoon of grapeseed oil or you can sauté with 2 tablespoon of water

1 sweet onion chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced 

1/3 cup packed fresh basil, chopped

1  can diced tomatoes, with their juices

6 to 8 tablespoons tomato paste

½ to 1 teaspoon fine-grain sea salt, to taste

1½ teaspoons dried oregano

½ teaspoon dried thyme

2 tablespoons chia seeds 

1 cup  cooked lentils 


1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and stir to combine. Sauté for 5 to 6 minutes, until the onion is translucent. Season with salt  to taste.

2. Add the basil, whole peeled tomatoes and their juices, tomato paste, salt, oregano, and thyme. Stir to combine. “Add  the chia seeds, and lentils, if desired, and stir to combine.

4. Reduce the heat to medium. Simmer the sauce, stirring every so often, for 15 to 20 minutes.

5. Serve over pasta and enjoy!”


TIP: Feel free to adjust the seasonings according to your taste.
