Dear friend of Remnant,
What a tumultuous summer this has been! Every time I turn on the news, I hear of violence, natural disasters, and other calamities. More than ever before, our world needs the hope of Jesus’ soon coming.
You don’t have to be a a student of prophecy to see the signs of the times taking place around us. Thoughtful Christians across this nation recognize that our society is on the brink of moral collapse.
That’s why I’m excited about the focus of our next Great Controversy mailing. Just in time for “back to school,” we will be mailing this vital book to students and faculty at twelve Christian colleges and universities across the United States. We are counting on you to help us to blanket the communities where these schools are located, reaching young people who are open and receptive to its timely message.
The idea for this targeted mailing to Christian university towns came from two experiences that my friend Ron Goss of Project Restore had last year. In February 2015, Ron visited meetings for the Conservative Political Action Committee in Oxon Hill, Maryland. While there, he and his wife handed out The Great Controversy to senators, congressional representatives, and presidential candidates. Ron also had the chance to visit with some young people of other denominations who attended various Christian universities. These young people were enthusiastic, strong in their faith, and looking for solutions to the ills facing society.
Then while attending the General Conference session in San Antonio, Texas, in July 2015, Ron and his wife asked people on the street if they had received a copy of The Great Controversy from our mailing, and what they had done with it. Many people told him they had kept their copy and had it at home or were reading it. Again, Ron was surprised by the number of young people who were reading the book and were excited about what they were learning.
It was after those two experiences that the initiative grew in Ron’s thoughts to reach Christian students with the message in The Great Controversy. The cities where these Christian colleges and universities are located need to get The Great Controversy mailing so those students can be exposed to the truth for this time.
The young people in the major Christian universities are the thought leaders of tomorrow. Many of them are honest seekers for truth. They are not burdened down with societal expectations that hinder many older adults from accepting truth. I believe that many thoughtful, God-fearing students will be convicted and choose to follow new light from Scripture as they read this book!
Half a Million Opportunities

Igniting a Movement on College Campuses
Back in the 1830s, a movement took place to preach to the young people at the newly established Oberlin College to lead them to help give the midnight cry. Many of the early believers of Jesus’ soon return who proclaimed the first and second angels’ messages were young people. Ellen White was only 17 years old when she became involved in the advent of Jesus movement, and her husband, James, was only 21. Why not recruit today’s young people who care about our world and society to help give the loud cry of the third angel?
In Old Testament times, the schools of the prophets were established “to promote the future prosperity of the nation by furnishing it with men qualified to act in the fear of God as leaders and counselors. . . . Samuel gathered companies of young men who were pious, intelligent, and studious. . . . As they communed with God and studied His word and His works, wisdom from above was added to their natural endowments” (Patriarchs and Prophets, 593).
Today many “pious, intelligent, and studious” young men and women are preparing for their life work at Christian universities. Like the “sons of the prophets” in Bible times, they will be a force for good in society if they are rightly trained in the ways of God. Now is the time when they are most receptive to truths such as the Sabbath, what happens after death, and end-time events that are so clearly taught in The Great Controversy. Now is the time to invite them to follow Christ on a new and deeper level.
God has a people in Babylon He is calling to come out of her confusion. He says, “Come out of her, My people” (Revelation 18:4). Imagine what a passionate witness these dedicated young people will be in these last days! Like the fervent young believers who founded the advent movement, they will complete the work in even greater power!
We urgently need $200,780 to complete this shipment of The Great Controversy to these twelve schools. God is calling young people “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). Will you help us extend Christ’s invitation to them?
